Razor wire delivered for the Hungarian border
SIA Žogu fabrika is also taking part in the large project to fence the Hungarian border. Our company currently produces and delivers part of the razor wire it needs. Early this week one of the largest wire product wholesalers in the European Union turned to the Latvian manufacturer SIA Žogu fabrika for razor wire.
The wire is needed to protect the European Union's border in Hungary. Thanks to fast work, well-planned logistics and the factory's output, on Tuesday evening SIA Žogu fabrika exported the first trial batch — 4 km of razor wire. The same evening the customer placed a further order for 30,000 metres, or 30 km, of razor wire.
The order has to be made and delivered within 2 weeks. Razor wire is made of 0.5 mm galvanised pressed steel tape with a 2.5 mm wire core pressed into it.
The higher carbon content of the core wire gives it hardness and strength; its tensile–bending strength is 1300–1500 N/mm². The wire is formed into coils joined to each other with clips.
Razor wire is meant for fencing high-security sites. SIA Žogu fabrika makes three kinds, in coils of 450 mm, 720 mm and 900 mm diameter. “We are confident in our factory's capacity and will deliver the order on time and to the agreed quality,” says Dmitrijs Gorņevs, chairman of the board of SIA Žogu fabrika. “We take on this order with a strong sense of responsibility: the refugee question is on the agenda of every EU member state, and we are glad that, as a Latvian and European Union company, we can contribute our work to protecting Europe with our products.”
