Agricultural fences
Galvanised field fence mesh for pastures, orchards, forests and roads. 1 to 2 m high, including a special mesh for sheep pastures.
Agricultural fence — economical and durable
An agricultural fence (lauksaimniecības žogs) is a simple and economical solution for large areas. It keeps livestock in the pasture and keeps wild animals out of orchards, plantations and roads. The fence withstands tension, impact and deformation, and with our instructions the owner can install it themselves.
How to read the product code
Each mesh has a three-number code, for example 150/13/15:
- 150 — height in centimetres
- 13 — number of line (horizontal) wires
- 15 — spacing between stay (vertical) wires in centimetres
At the bottom the line wires are closer together, so small animals cannot squeeze through the fence.
Range
- 100/8/15 — 1.0 m, 8 wires, 15 cm mesh, 50 m per roll
- 120/10/15 — 1.2 m, 10 wires, 15 cm mesh, 50 m per roll
- 150/13/15 — 1.5 m, 13 wires, 15 cm mesh, 50 m per roll
- 180/16/15 — 1.8 m, 16 wires, 15 cm mesh, 50 m per roll
- 200/18/15 — 2.0 m, 18 wires, 15 cm mesh, 50 m per roll
- 100/8/30 (sheep) — 1.0 m, 8 wires, 30 cm mesh, 100 m per roll
- 120/10/30 (sheep) — 1.2 m, 10 wires, 30 cm mesh, 100 m per roll
Material
The mesh is made from 2 mm galvanised steel wire. The line wires are hard steel wire with a tensile strength of 700–900 N/mm², and the stay wires are slightly softer. That makes the fence rigid along its length while following the lie of the land. The mesh is attached to the posts with special clips, available in the shop.
Mesh for sheep pastures
The mesh for sheep pastures has twice as wide a spacing — 30 cm. It needs less wire, so it is cheaper, but holds sheep in the enclosure just as well.
How much you need
A standard roll holds 50 m of mesh; sheep mesh, 100 m. Measure the perimeter of the enclosure, divide by the roll length and round up.
Where it is used
- Cattle, horse and sheep pastures
- Orchards and plantations — against roe deer and deer
- Forest plots and young plantations
- Fencing off motorways and railways
What height should I choose against deer?
Against roe deer and deer, people usually choose a mesh 1.8–2.0 m high. For pastures, 1.0–1.5 m is enough.
How far apart should the posts be?
The recommended spacing between posts is 2.5–3.0 m.
