A roll of galvanised barbed wire

Barbed wire

EZIS galvanised barbed wire: 2 mm wire, 4-point barbs, 250 m per roll. Extra protection for any fence.

EZIS barbed wire — simple extra security

Barbed wire is a cheap and simple way to make a fence harder to get over. It is fitted on top of a chain-link, panel or agricultural fence, or used on its own, strung between posts. Our EZIS barbed wire is made in Jelgava from galvanised steel wire. It is light, can be installed without special tools, and one roll covers a long stretch of fence. Barbed wire alone will not stop a determined intruder, but it marks the boundary clearly, hinders climbing and deters animals. Together with a sturdy fence and good lighting it is one of the cheapest security measures there is.

Specifications

  • Wire diameter: 2 mm
  • Number of points: 4
  • Coating: zinc (Zn)
  • Roll length: 250 m
  • Manufacturer: SIA Žogu fabrika

On request we also make barbed wire from wire with a zinc-aluminium or PVC coating.

Why galvanised

Barbed wire is outdoors all the time, above the fence, where rain, snow and wind reach it. Ungalvanised wire starts to rust in its first season, and the rust runs down onto the fence and walls. A zinc coating protects the wire for years.

Where it is used

  • On top of fences around company sites, warehouses and construction sites
  • In farming — for pasture fences
  • To protect garages, sheds and farm buildings
  • Together with a chain-link or panel fence, to increase its height

How much you need

One roll holds 250 m of wire. Multiply the fence length by the number of rows and add a little in reserve. Example: a 60 m fence with 3 rows of barbed wire = 180 m, so one roll is enough. A 200 m fence with 3 rows needs 600 m, or three rolls.

How to install it

Barbed wire is usually strung in 2–3 rows above the fence, attached to an arm fitted on top of the post. Work in thick work gloves and safety glasses; unroll the wire gradually rather than dragging it along the ground.

Barbed wire arms for posts are available in our shop.

If you need a higher level of protection, see our high-security barbed wire.

Important: on private property, municipal building regulations may restrict barbed wire on the side facing the street or a public place. Check them before installation.

How many rows of barbed wire do I need?

Usually 2–3 rows above the fence. The number of rows and the spacing between them depend on the requirements of the site.

Does barbed wire rust?

Galvanised barbed wire is protected against corrosion and is covered by our warranty.
