High-security barbed wire
Coiled razor wire made of galvanised steel tape with a hard core wire. Coil diameter 450, 720 or 900 mm.
When ordinary barbed wire is not enough
High-security barbed wire (paaugstinātās drošības dzeloņstieple), also known as razor wire, is designed for sites where the fence must be hard to get over: warehouses, factories, energy and infrastructure facilities, borders. We make it in Jelgava. Unlike ordinary barbed wire, which mainly marks a boundary, a razor wire coil is a physical obstacle: it cannot be crossed by throwing a coat or a plank over it, and it is hard to cut with ordinary pliers. That is why it is used where unauthorised entry would cause heavy losses or put safety at risk.
Construction
The wire is made of 0.5 mm thick galvanised steel tape with a 2.5 mm core wire pressed into it. The core wire has a raised carbon content, which makes it hard and strong: its tensile strength is 1300–1500 N/mm². Blades are punched into the tape. The wire is wound into coils, and neighbouring coils are joined with clips. Stretched out, it forms a dense, three-dimensional barrier that can be neither climbed over nor easily cut.
Dimensions
- Coil diameter: 450 mm, 720 mm or 900 mm
- Roll length (stretched): standard 10 m; longer rolls and larger diameters on request
- Tape thickness: 0.5 mm, galvanised
- Core wire: 2.5 mm, high-carbon steel
How to choose the diameter
The coil can be installed on top of a fence on arms, or on the ground as a free-standing barrier, or in several rows. The diameter and installation method are chosen according to the requirements of the site — our specialists will help you choose.
How much you need
One roll stretched out covers about 10 m. To work out the number of rolls, divide the length of the perimeter to be protected by 10 and round up. If you lay the wire in two rows or as a pyramid, multiply accordingly. For large sites we will prepare a quotation with the exact quantity and clips.
Where it is used
- Warehouses, factories and logistics centres
- Energy, water and telecommunications facilities
- Car parks and vehicle yards
- Borders and other high-security perimeters
Track record
Our high-security barbed wire has been used to protect state borders, defence sites and ships. For large and sensitive sites we prepare an individual quotation.
Safety
The blades are very sharp. Install it wearing special cut-resistant gloves and clothing, and safety glasses. Stretch the wire out gradually, fixing the clips as you go.
How does it differ from ordinary barbed wire?
Ordinary barbed wire is a wire with barbs. High-security wire has sharp blades and a hard core wire, and forms a three-dimensional coil that is hard to get over or cut.
Can I install it at a private house?
Before installation, check your municipality's building regulations. Razor wire is usually not allowed on the side facing the street or a public place.
