Chain-link fence — simple, durable, made in Latvia

A chain-link fence (pītais žogs) is a simple and economical way to fence a private house, an allotment, an orchard, a forest plot or an industrial site. The mesh is made so that the joins between rolls are not visible once the fence is installed. The chain-link fence we make meets the requirements of LVS EN 10223-6.

People often ask whether a chain-link fence is floppy. It is not — if it is installed correctly. Installation matters more for chain-link than for other types of fence: the mesh has to be tensioned between the posts with tension wire. That is why every buyer gets installation instructions from us.

Material

Standard chain-link fencing is made from heat-treated galvanised steel wire. For the PVC fence the wire is first galvanised (EN 10244-2, class C) and then coated with a layer of PVC. That gives double protection against corrosion, and the green colour blends well into a garden.

Rolls and edges

We supply chain-link fencing in standard rolls, which can be unrolled quickly to start installation, or in compact rolls. A compact roll takes up only 30% of the volume of a standard roll, so it is easier to store and transport. On the standard fence, the wires at the top and bottom edges of the roll are bent back onto the previous mesh, so the edges do not prick. Other edge finishes are available on request.

Galvanised or PVC-coated

A galvanised fence is the cheapest option and suits large sites. A PVC coating adds extra protection against corrosion and a green colour that stands out less in a garden. If the fence will be visible from the house, people usually choose PVC.

Where chain-link fencing is used

  • The back of a private plot and the boundary with neighbours
  • Allotments and orchards
  • Forest plots and rural properties
  • Warehouses, factories and construction sites
  • Dog runs

Installation also needs posts, tension wire, wire tensioners and wire holders. You can buy them all in our shop together with the fence.

Is chain-link fencing floppy?

No. Correctly installed and tensioned, a chain-link fence is firm and meets the requirements of LVS EN 10223-6. We supply installation instructions with the fence.

How many rolls do I need?

One roll is 25 m. Measure the total length of the fence, divide by 25 and round up. Subtract the width of any gates from the total length. The calculator in our shop will help you put together an exact list with posts and accessories.

What is the difference between galvanised and PVC-coated fencing?

Galvanised fencing is cheaper and has a grey metal finish. PVC-coated fencing has an extra protective layer over the zinc, is green and blends better into a garden.
